Horse Jitney llc and our Ohio-based partner company, Fred's Pony Express, offer high quality horse transport service from our Maryland and Ohio bases for horse people who want their horses to travel comfortably in the care of horse people. We pride ourselves on delivering horses that arrive ready to work or play. We are the preferred transport service for "special needs" horses - older, EPM, laminitis cases, rehabiliting, and babies.
Our services are reasonably priced and our equipment second to none, so your horse rides in comfort and style at a price you can afford.
We are kind natured, conscientious horse people who pay close attention to each horse's health and behavior, stopping every three hours to rest their legs and top off hay and water, adjust ventilation for changing climates, and we always make a fuss over them at stops so we can recognize their normal, healthy behavior to catch abnormalities before they become a problem.

We will likely not be your cheapest quote, but we are competitively priced for the personalized service and quality care each horse trusted to our care receives. We have years of experience shipping everything from pet ponies to Pan-American Games competitors nationwide.
Trips are limited to a maximum of five horses so travel time en route is limited, reducing stress and fatique for your horse. We operate two oversized straight load, head-to-head trailers instead of slant load trailers because the stalls are much roomier, and we can access each horse individually during routine stops, and there's no need to unload horses at each delivery or pickup point, reducing risks during travel. We're sure you'll love our rigs as much as we do!
Our trailers are spacious and inviting so even "problem-loaders" usually walk right in! The trailers have added windows and vents, extra-large straight stalls, grilled stallion walls from floor to ceiling, five foot side ramps and gently sloping rear ramps, plus interior ceiling heights of 7'8" allowing the largest of horses to ride comfortably.

The Horse Jitney llc is owned and operated by me, Athena Haresign, a horsewoman with over twenty years of professional equine experience, including breeding, training, and trailering competitive show horses. I'm a former veterinary technician, capable of noticing subtle signs of illness and administering oral, IV, or IM medications per your veterinarian's orders. Our primary concern is keeping horses safe and healthy while traveling with us.
Meet our Shipping Partner, Fred's Pony Express!
Our shipping partner, Fred Massie of Fred's Pony Express, is also a talented horseman and horse breeder who primarily breeds and raises quarter and paint horses for barrel racing and working cows. He is very astute at noticing subtle behavior changes, and like me, can administer medications should they be necessary. During your horse's trip, Fred and I will keep you posted as to your horses' travel condition and whereabouts.
Fred is based in Youngstown, Ohio. He ships horses in an oversized, brand new four horse head to head trailer, and routinely makes coast-to-coast trips. Fred's care and experience are second to none when it comes to keeping horses healthy and happy during long-distance travel. He routinely ships horses from Florida to California. Preventive maintenance
When not on the road, we spend our time cleaning and maintaining our rigs at Fred's shop in Boardman, OH. Fred is a mechanic with over twenty year's experience. One or two drivers accompany your horses during their journey, depending on travel time, horse temperament, and owner's wishes. Our second drivers are commercially licensed drivers, each with over thirty years of commercial driving experience, and both with horse sense and experience.

Shipping Rates
Contact us by phone or email so we can understand your shipping needs and provide a customized quote for shipping your horse and one bale of hay. Additional fees are assessed for box stalls, equipment, direct or private transport, and client-requested overnight layovers. We have limited space available for shipping tack, plastic totes, saddles, bridles, feed, etc, so please be sure to ask if space is available, and understand we must charge accordingly.
Horses ride in extra large straight stalls or 8x10 box stalls in the head-to-head trailers. Box stalls are required for mares with foals, miniatures, and any horse that cannot fit comfortably in a stall and a half.

Are you moving a horse within Maryland or Florida? We are based in Howard County, Maryland, and Manatee County, Florida and are sometimes available to ship horses locally.

2001 Oldenburg Mare - $15,000
2001 16.3 Oldenburg Mare by Fuerst Gotthard for sale or lease. This lovely mare is a proven riding horse and brood mare with a gentle, friendly disposition and willing attitude. She is being ridden as a dressage horse, working first level movements, but has been trail ridden and hunter paced. She trailers and clips well. She hasn't had formal jumping training, but jumps willingly, and has no issue with crossing water. She would be a good dressage or event horse.
